Rent Colonial Apt

Many Explore Guatemala travelers have fallen in love with Guatemala, Antigua, and Lake Atitlán, and have asked to return on their own to paint, sight–see, or just chill and enjoy the ambiance of the country. John and Anita travel a good deal of the year and their lovely Apartamento del Arco (The second story of the yellow building to the left of the Arco in the painting) in the heart of Antigua gets very lonely.

This amazing colonial apartment has seven rooms, including one large bedroom (for two), two full bathrooms, and is furnished with colonial antiques and art. It has a terrace to the rear with views of the Antigua rooftops and Volcano Agua. A second terrace overlooks the Arco, the ruins of Santa Catalina Convent, and 5th Avenida.

Apartamento del Arco is centrally located, two blocks from the main square and within easy walking distance from wonderful shops and restaurants. It faces the Convento de Santa Catalina which, during the 17th century, was a convent for cloistered nuns. The Arco was constructed in the 1600’s and was one of the few structures that survived the earthquake of 1773 that toppled most of the other structures in Antigua. This structure was to enable the nuns to cross the street from the Convent and Church to their orchard and garden on the other side without being seen by the public. The Arco is actually one of the walls of the apartment’s front terrace which looks over the street and across to the ruins of the Convento de Santa Catalina.

This wonderful apartment is fully furnished and includes daily maid service. It has stunning views of the Volcano Agua from the back terrace as well as views of Volcanoes Fuego and Acatenango from the street side balconies. On weekends, 5th Avenida is blocked off to vehicle traffic and becomes a pedestrian only street with musical groups and shop owners put out benches for sitting.

This beautiful apartment features a large bedroom with a queen size bed, windows, a balcony, and a terrace facing the street.

The apartment features a wonderful and tranquil rear terrace overlooking Antigua rooftops and Volcano Agua where you may enjoy your morning Guatemalan coffee and breakfast, and bask in the warmth of the sunrise.
